Due to the unique flavour of green cardamom (Elettariacaramon) cultivated in Sri Lanka, formed by the country’s unique terroir, is known as Ceylon Cardamom. It is widely used as a spice and an additive in the food and beverage industry such as tea and coffee and as an ingredient in pharmaceutical, cosmetic and alternative medicine industries. Cardamom is also used to flavour confectionery, pastries, and baked products.
